See how they fly

My great friend Jason sent me a link to this video of the exact phenomenon I was describing the other day – birds (which Rozanne correctly identified as starlings) flying. Check it out here.

I first saw a giant flock of starlings back when I lived in Illinois. I'd seen individual starlings before, but had no idea how they behaved en masse.

That's a great link--it really shows the behavior well. They remind me a bit of the flying monkeys in the Wizard of Oz movie.
